You'll find that I'm warm, calming, and compassionate. I will give you space to process your experiences, gain perspective, and find freedom from stuck places. I'll help you explore your thoughts and emotions, consider new possibilities, and set goals for the way forward.
I bring to my work as a psychotherapist over 20 years of past experience in Christian ministry, supporting people through challenges that felt too big to carry alone. As I ask questions, I'll listen with curiosity to create a safe space that aims to bring clarity, hope and healing.

Counselling with Steph

Together, we will build on your strengths and values to help you move toward greater emotional, relational, physical and/or spiritual well-being. I am passionate about helping women who are struggling with anxiety, difficult relationships, estrangement, losses and/or grief, low self-esteem or self-worth. I have compassion for those experiencing a crisis of faith or meaning in their lives, church hurt, or are in the midst of a life transition like separation, divorce or retirement.
I draw from several evidence-based counselling approaches including narrative, cognitive-behavioural, and self-compassion. My work is trauma-informed, recognizing the brain/body connection in emotion regulation and utilizing an attachment theory lens.
Faith-based counselling is available upon request for those whose faith is a vital part of who they are and want to be. I have a special interest in supporting those in Christian ministry and their family members. I am a lifelong learner and can help clients consider options for ongoing growth through books, podcasts, groups and other avenues of psycho-education and community.

I have been married for almost 30 years and have three adult children. I am an avid reader who enjoys sitting by a fire, coffee with friends, or long walks at the lake.
